It protects them from interference on the power line that’s why you have these power line boxes it has suppressors and RFI filters they work on network, point-sale-equipment and audio/video and amateur radio systems. Look at the picture and you can see all the power line boxes. The manuals tell you all the information you can mount them on a wall or where ever you want to mount them
